The latest Call of Duty game was released this week and some New Zealanders are paying nearly double the price for it than fans in other countries are.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II was released at midnight on Monday evening and is set to be one of the most popular games of the year.

Retail chain EB Games currently offers online shoppers the game on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $142, while the Mightyape.co.nz price is $119.99 and The Warehouse’s is $109. The recommended retail price in New Zealand is $139.99.

American customers are able to pick the same title up for a recommended retail price of US$59.99 (NZ$74.14). Amazon.com is currently listing it for US$59.96.

US copies of the game are NTSC format and incompatible with many New Zealand televisions which are PAL. PAL copies of the game can be ordered from the UK, however, for around £40 (NZ$78.23), although shipping costs would be additional.

price gouging? how about the warehouse selling it at 109 is selling it at a loss. truth is we pay more for it from the distributors. half a story journalism at its best. plus the eb version online also advertised a special edition exclusive with extra game addons. do research.

Or get it from Amazon UK free shipping for anything over £20 pounds. If NZ retailers are price gouging go somewhere else we now have the power New Zealand.
