It began as an effort to raise both funds and awareness of prostate cancer and ended with four rowers surviving a dangerous voyage across the Indian Ocean in a rowboat.
Now Billy Gammon, Matt Hampel and Tom Wigram are back home on Takapuna beach after their death defying journey, and they did it the hard way - in a rowboat.
Admittedly they were equipped with a few mod cons, but there were times when they thought they might lose their lives.
It took them 82 days to row from Western Australia to Mauritius, and they say the ocean meddled with their minds.
They agree that the worst part of the voyage to raise cancer awareness was towards the end, when their boat capsized.
Takapuna is nearly 6,000 miles from Mauritius and Billy, Matt and Tom did it the hard way, paddling, while sitting on their prostates.
