The new owners of Cadbury have angered the British Government and unions with a decision to close a plant in western England, with the loss of 400 jobs.

The US company Kraft had promised during the prolonged battle to take over Cadbury, that it would not be closing the Somerdale factory near Bristol.

British business secretary Peter Mandelson has criticised Kraft's CEO Irene Rosenfeld, saying she should have told him of the closure plans when they met last week to discuss the takeover.

The Unite trade union says promises were made to the Somerdale workers which were a cynical attempt to curry favour with the British public during an unwelcome and unpopular takeover.

"Walk a Mile in the Shoes of the laid of workers Irene". Same ol story. Rich top management types caring a hoot about the workers who earned them millions only to become dispensable to the whims of the management. This business model created in society is a failure everywhere and is causing nothing but misery.
