If the Super Bowl is not your cup of tea but the months of pre-game build up have left you in need of a reward, then here’s the answer: Puppy Bowl.
The annual Animal Planet match between rescue dogs aired today and viewers had the opportunity to adopt their favourite players.
First aired in 2005, Puppy Bowl is the animal world’s answer to America’s biggest football game – and its popularity is increasing. In 2012, 10 million people watched the Puppy Bowl.
This year, Animal Planet have provided a live stream of the puppy locker room for your viewing pleasure.
Unlike Super Bowl, the Puppy Bowl is not filmed live but over two days. Ten puppies are ‘on the field’ at any one time but there are 53 puppies ‘on the bench’ which are substituted on.
Puppy Bowl was filmed at a studio in Manhattan inside a custom built miniature stadium.
