A Labour government would strengthen the Accident Compensation Corporation and roll back the Government's cuts to entitlements, the party says.
It says the no-fault scheme is envied around the world, and Labour would never privatise any of it.
The Government intends opening part of ACC to private competition if it wins the election, and Labour's ACC spokesman Chris Hipkins says there's no evidence to suggest that will benefit anyone.
Labour believes the government's ultimate intention is to privatise it entirely.
"ACC is a public utility, it belongs to New Zealanders and Labour won't see it sold off to the highest bidder," Mr Hipkins said when he launched the party's ACC policy on Friday.
"It doesn't take rocket science to work out we'll all end up paying more in the long run as a result of National's short-term thinking."
Mr Hipkins says the Government has been steadily undermining the scheme and Labour would put an end to that, without raising levies.
