Investigators are trying to find out what started the massive scrub fire in Wellington which took 10 hours to control and forced 20 houses to evacuate.

I remember living in Wainuiomata back in the 1960s and seeing gorse fires in the hills next to houses so nothing has changed in 40 plus years.If they want to prevent these fires perhaps they should use prisioners to clear the gorse for once and for all

When they say "bush" do they mean gorse - a good time perhaps to plant some nice pine trees?
