John Key's party now has more than double the support of the Labour Party

The National Party has recorded a close to record high rating in the latest 3 News Reid Research political poll.

John Key's party now has more than double the support of the Labour Party, which has hit a 15-year low.

The poll differs greatly to one released by TVNZ’s Marae Investigates earlier today.

That poll showed Labour in the lead, with the Maori Party following and National coming in behind. However, the poll had only contacted voters on the Maori roll.

Political editor Duncan Garner joins us with all the details and analysis.

First of All, i think the comments Jenny has made are fowl and disgusting. This national goverment is so screwed up, look at how long it took them to get something done about the Rena ship, how pathetic.
Im voteing for a positive party, great policies, positive attitude, a party that is going to address the issue of un-employment, of low wages - helping families who are sturggling on $14,000 a year. looking for positive ways to enhance our environment, and keep it clean and safe and stable. i make a decent wage, and i would benefit from the tax cut, but when i vote, i dont just think about myself, i think about everyone in this country, im not a greedy Nat whos in it for the money. this year, im Party voting GREEN!!

Jenny you must be either very naive or have been brainwashed by Duncan Garner to ever think New Zealand will revert back to FPP

I've just polled my workplace of ove 200 employees living between Manurewa and Rodney. About even. With greens holding the balance.

I do find it amusing that john key states the economy is great the day before we got an international downdrade and all you Nats please don't blame the recession. In my opinion that had has more to do with his borrowing of millions to allow his rich listers their tax break. yes my $16 extra a week really went far. What a joke?

Also vety hypocrital of him to say pay off debt whilst the country under his stewardship, even before the quakes, was borrowing more. Oh so unemployment is supposedly down because of jobs they created but it has nothing to do with more people have gone across the Tasman

Bugger the polls Duncan! No poll results will change my mind come election day. This Key government has done nothing for me and my family. The tax-cut election bribe they gave us during the last election got swallowed up by the 2.5% increase in GST. This came after John Key promised that his government wont increase GST. Those few NZders who are on the high income bracket did very well out of the tax cut and the reduction on their personal income tax rates. I voted for a change during the last election because I had enough of the nanny state and the arrogance of the previous labour lead government. This Key government who campaigned on getting rid of those issues and a brighter future for all NZders are no better. In fact they have failed completely to address those issues and deliver those promises that got them in government. The lies, the broken promises, the blame game, the high unemployment, the brain drain, the lack of employment opportunities, the overspending by this government, the lack of compassion towards other NZders who need help, the slogans they use to scaremonger us and the list goes on and on has all contributed towards my decision to vote for a change on election day I hope the people of Auckland, particularly South Auckland will get off their back sides on election day, go to the nearest polling booth and vote for that change of government. You did it for Len Brown and you can also do it for Phill Goff, who I have been impressed with since he started rolling out his party's policies. @ Clarke - I think Chris is in the young nats who is probably still living at home with momma.

Well I love the National party, and ACT too. Just because any poll is only representative of those asked, doesn't mean we won't get three more years of winning National Party policies. Yay John Key! VicTORY!
@jonwakefield, I agree, Who needs the left! Bunch of working-class tossers. Yes, they must accept reality, the National party will always win from now on, this is a right-wing country, and all the mainstream media agrees and supports that (thanks Duncan). If you don't like it, leave! New Zealand belongs to US now. Who cares if you all starve, YOU DON'T COUNT AT ALL. And when FFP comes back, and it will, abandon all hope ye on the left! LOL

Oh no.. the left must have lost... I mean these are exactly the same polls that predicted John Banks was close to winning the Auckland mayoral election last time round. However the reality was the left won, its vote was massively under represented for some very good reasons. you people may hope that these polls are right but they arent, not this time... not in the slightest. But you have Maori haters and woman bashers like chris who salivate at the mouth drooling death to socialists (definition of socialist.. someone who gives a crap about others). And they continue to chant their redneck call of death to compassion while they encourage you to vote for a party with no compassion whatsoever in the form of the National party. The problem with cry babies like chris is they cling to some wild belief that if the government just got rid of those damned maoris and chucked women back in the kitchen the world would be back to the way that a backwards thinking dinosaur like him could cope with. But lets see whether these polls are just like the Auckland mayoral race. The people wont stand for more than another term from National when they see that all National intends to do is sit on its arse and wait out the worlds woes, without offering constructive solutions of employment, poverty or ways to increase government revenue. Asset sales will pay 6 months of next years deficit... but asset sales do not in any way give us and increased stream of long term revenue. Asset sales as the same as a mortgage break... they let you breath for a couple of months and then you go back to being in exactly the same mess that you were.
