A high profile New Zealand lawyer says the FBI will have to fight to get Kim Dotcom extradited to the United States.

The Mega-upload founder is among four people arrested in Auckland as part of an international clamp down on online piracy.

They are due to reappear in court tomorrow.

But Peter Williams QC says they are facing unusual allegations of crime and there may be some technical difficulty in obtaining an extradition order.

“I wouldn’t be too confident that an extradition order will be made. I think it’s a case where extradition would be robustly defended and there is a right of appeal if an extradition order is made then the case can be appealed to a higher court and I’m sure in the circumstances of this case that would be done,” says Mr Williams.

Megaupload has appointed a top American lawyer, previously hired by former President Bill Clinton, to defend the charges.
