Burning debris blocks the Newtownards Road in East Belfast (Reuters)

In Northern Ireland, politicians and church leaders are looking for ways to combat violent demonstrations that have injured more than 50 police officers in the last month.

Forty-seven people have been charged in connection with the rioting.

The protests have been triggered by moves to reduce the number of days the Union Flag will be flown from the Town Hall.
