@ Mouthguard and Ricardo.. you guys obviously don't understand that public transport is a vital key to improving urban life. It means less cars, less polution, less wear and tear on roads and ultimately more freedom to those who cant afford a car.

Great - ban cars and everything else and spend billions making Auckland pretty. The sooner Len gets the message from voters at the next election the better. Rates are for core infrastructure, not the pipe dreams or statues of fools. Rein this guy in before we are all bankrupted.

@ Mouthguard, He has been honest about his vision from the very beginning, public transport was one of his key issues that he gave a lot of priority. These 'toys' do not just carry recreational value but economic and social benefits aswell. It will help make Auckland economically more effecient which means more tax collected by Central Government to fund the rest of the country. Everyone forgets that Auckland generates a a little over a third of tax revenue for New Zealand - why would we NOT want to invest in it? Stop complaining.

His mouth keeps writing cheques... none drawn against his own accounts. This guy is yet another Labour dinosaur who truly, truly believes that the taxpayer is just a cash cow, ready to be milked for the 'good of all'. Mate, we ARE that cow, and it has been squeezed to the point of being inside out by your leftie mob. He has NO MANDATE to spend tax dollars. If Auckland want toys to play with, then Auckland can pay for them too. I wonder if he would have been voted in if he had been honest about that in the first place.
