Manukau Mayor Len Brown is to run for the new Auckland super city mayoralty.

"I'm ready. I'm standing for the mayor of all of Auckland," he said on TV1's Q&A programme this morning.

He will make his announcement official in a media conference at the city's One Tree Hill later today.

Mr Brown is the second politician to confirm he is running for the mayoralty, after Auckland City Mayor John Banks.

Thank goodness Fred doesn't represent the rational reasonably minded among us. Fred has just convinced me to vote for Len Brown.
