Land that is wide, flat, and green is what Cantabrian’s dream of

Charlotte and Tim have a cute little home in the red zone in Avonside. Being in the red zone meant they had to decide whether to take the government offer or settle with EQC and their insurance company AMI.

After wrangling with their insurance company since September - they've finally settled and bought a section in Rangiora.

Their next project is to build a home on it.

A lot of Cantabrians will be wondering how they negotiated a path through the insurance quagmire.

Charlotte has advice for others stuck in insurance limbo.

“You have to persevere; you just have to keep going, because you'll win in the long run. If you just keep at it, you'll get the outcome that you need,” she said.

Campbell Live has followed Charlotte and Tim since the September quake, their wedding a week after, and their struggles since.

But now they're just about to celebrate their first anniversary - and things are finally looking up.

“I suppose it gives other people hope that this is the case, if you just keep working at things, they do work out,” says Charlotte.

Wonderful to see how attitude equals altitude - you are both an inspiration, and that gives those of us who are following you more hope. Thanks!
