The Kapiti Coast District Council is looking at introducing a bylaw to turn the coast into one of the world's longest nudist beaches.
The proposed area is 45 kilometres of beach that stretches from Paekakariki to Otaki.
The local naturists say the District Council's new nude friendly plan is not just great for the region but also great for New Zealand.
And estimated 200 nudists frequent the Kapiti Coast and while there has been opposition to the plans, Councillor Peter Ellis says they are just moving with the times.
"I think there has always been a pretty clear line in the sand is that beaches are places for families, places for kids," Family First's Bob McCoskrie says. "They are a place that you cover up and dress decently, and that's been a good line in the sand and we'd like it kept there."
Residents have up until October 24 to make submissions opposing the change. Otherwise the nature coast could become the naturist coast.
