Style Christchurch kicked off last night with designers from around the country and one even flown in from Fiji, showcasing red garments in aid of raising money for the New Zealand AIDS foundation.

Despite all the outfits being red there was huge variety in the garment line up, with each designer having a unique take on the theme. Here’s what each designer came up with:

IPG: A short red, strapless dress in light flowing material. Gathered at the bust there was detail in the dress but it was sexy and sophisticated without being over the top. This fashion label will be opening tonight’s show at the Isaac Theatre.

GAS: A casual twist was added to the theme, on display were red skinny jeans and a red and white striped shirt finished off the look.

Ruby: Short red and white striped long sleeved dress, quite clingy but very stylish.

Helen Cherry: A stunning calf-length red dress made from stiff fabric. The skirt flared out and a matching belt was added for detail.

MisteR: Modelled by Shortland Street's Will Hall who plays Kip Denton on the show, this outfit was a vibrant patterned suit, with a bright red shirt underneath. The model appeared shooting a toy cap gun, twirled and posed and clearly loved every minute of it.

Adrian Hailwood: An elegant red dress, knee length with silky see-through material (you need to wear a slip with this one!) gorgeous bat wing sleeves and material gathered through the waist made for a stunning outfit.

Emma Ford: A one piece red strapless swimsuit with cut-outs that revealed the skin underneath. Modelled with a big beach umbrella this, outfit was very popular.

Koila Mcbride (Fiji): The Fijian designer came up with a classic summer halter-neck dress in red with orange flowers, mid length.

V&G: A deep red dress with off the shoulder sleeves, thick white ripped material was wrapped around the outfit. Best described by imagining cut up cable knit jumpers wrapped around the dress. One of the more unique takes on the theme.

Sonya Smith: A classic red full length gown, one shoulder with embroidered detailing on the sash around the waste. A very classy outfit.

Stitch Ministry: A full length maxi dress, white slip dress underneath and loose flowing see-through dress over the top. Subtly patterned with bat wing sleeves

Sakaguchi: A deep red strapless dress with black netting wrapped around, a bold dress which was classy but managed to make a statement.

Look out for photos on Monday so you can judge the outfits for yourself.
