Lily Allen found herself on the brink of an eating disorder after spending time with "models and pop stars" who use unhealthy habits to keep their weight down.

The 26-year-old British singer has long struggled with her body shape, and admitted in an interview last year that she went through a period of vomiting after meals in a desperate bid to stay thin.

Allen admits her problems were exacerbated by spending time with others in the entertainment industry who were obsessed with losing weight.

She tells Elle magazine, "I hang out with models, the biggest pop stars and, you know, really and honestly, I hate saying this, but none of them are achieving those body shapes by being healthy. They're not just going to the gym two hours a day. They're not eating or they're taking speed not to eat. In America everyone abuses that Adderall stuff and people aren't normal."
