Lily Allen has reignited her feud with rival British singer Cheryl Cole by reminding fans of the Girls Aloud star's assault conviction nine years ago.

The ‘Smile’ hitmaker caused a stir in 2006 when she wrote a song about Cole, and now she's risked enraging her rival by dragging up a court case from 2003 during which Cole was falsely accused of a racist attack.

Last week, cops in Austria were called to a hotel near Innsbruck to deal with a domestic incident involving Cole's bandmate Sarah Harding, and following reports she is to face a court over the incident, Allen took to her Twitter.com account to mock the two singers.

She writes, "Wow 40% of Girls Aloud will have been charged with assault."

Cole was found guilty of assaulting a nightclub worker following her 2003 court case but was cleared of any racial element to the attack.
