Starring French Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard, among others, this film is directed by her partner Guillaume Canet, himself an actor turned director who impressed many with his last film Tell No-one.

This is a very different outing as he explores the secrets and little white lies of a group of old friends who gather at the beach for their annual summer holiday.

It’s a tad too long, the duration working for the story in places but as a disconnect in others, but the characters and the gorgeous setting do grow on you.

Three stars.
