Campbell Live has been conducting an ongoing investigation into animal testing at the Valley Animal Research Centre in the Manawatu.

It has recently closed, but beagles from the facility have been sold on TradeMe by the centre's former director.

Last night we showed you the carcasses of dogs that had been dumped in the research centre's back yard. That took a lot of people by surprise. Many people were unaware medical testing even took place in New Zealand.

Today Himatangi locals told us they were outraged by the disposal of the animals. Even the local regional council said it had no knowledge of the dumping.

This afternoon the council sent in a team to inspect the grounds and the SPCA was also there.

No, there are no alternatives to animal testing that are more accurate and there are no pharmaceutical products, and just about no cosmetic products, that have not been tested on animals. Animal testing does not have to be cruel. Under strict ethical control it can be done humanely.

Thanks Campbell Live for doing this story! There are many alternatives to animal testing that are more accurate and less cruel. There are lists available to tell you if a product has or has not been tested on so if your someone who hates animal testing too, boycott the products that are created by cruel company's.
