Jim,okay I accept most of what you say, but of course it's the BP name & image that has been targeted & most people know that's whats in the mind of greenpeace, & sadly their are very limited options for doing this without someone being affected or being hurt in the short term.....suppose the ultimate aim might be to turn enough people off from patronising BP that the business is no longer viable but guess that's not likely to happen though.
Thomas - They are terrorists and idiots. Those gas stations have already paid for the petrol from BP, so Greenpeace are only hurting small business owners (who pay for the petrol in advance) and the wage workers (like us). However, I do not want them to go and blow up an oil plant after hearing what has happened in Nigeria from neglected / mis-managed oil plants (something like 500 million litres spilt in the Niger Delta over the last 50 years - scary)!!!
Tony Hayward offered job with BP's Russian venture....really!!!...wonder if it's based somewhere in Siberia?
Jim, Yeh militant no doubt, but I wouldn't really put greenpeace in the same catergory as Hezbollah or the Taliban though, havn't heard of greenpeace chopping off anyone's head yet though, even though the BP top dogs might be likely candidates.
Its so easy to Boycott BP cos in Australia the workers are brave enough to strike against BP http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aHEuDXazPosE In the states, the BP workers are happy to follow everything their BP masters tell them to do even at the cost of their lives
BP stands for Bad Petrol Finally! Was wondering Where r those fanatic greenies the ones who risk everything to save the whales? Why arent they like throwing shit at BP establishments all round the world ? Do they not know that the shit (corext) in the sea is gonna kill the whales? There are non toxic ways like solidyfying the floating oil but Bp chose to hide the evidence by using dispersents which they own.
Yeh militant Thomas, like Hezbollah and the Taliban. Damn the terrorists!!!

Doug, I disagree,I think that BP will most definitely get a very clear & effective message from the militant action Greenpease has taken, I'd like to see the action escalated to other cities, then for the Greenpeace network to take it global.
Like BP or anyone would want this oil spill to happen. Besides everything else it was too costly in so many ways. I am sure BP and others will do everything to prevent it ever happening again. Greenpeace can go too far at times. I doubt BP will get any effective message from this sort of protest. Probably hurt the independant owners more than anything. They get no more donations from me, I choose not to sponser this type of action.
