A mountain biker missing in a regional park near Lower Hutt has been found dead.

Lance Kaiki, 43, was found in the Belmont Regional Park about 1pm today by members of a search team that had been looking for him since Thursday afternoon.

Mr Kaiki was last seen riding into the park, 7km north of Lower Hutt, on Thursday afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Nick Pritchard said it was too soon to say how Mr Kaiki died but his death was not being treated as suspicious.

His death has been referred to the coroner and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in the coming days.
