Mark Skaife and Craig Lowndes on the podium

By Greg Robertson

There were dramas aplenty at the 2010 Bathurst 1000 but Team Vodafone put hopping kangaroos and doors falling off aside to take the top two places on the podium.

Craig Lowndes, teamed up with Mark Skaife, drove since lap 82 showing a super-human effort, but had to work hard to hold off Jamie Whincup and Steve Owen at the final stages.

The race had drama right from the get-go, with the safety car called into action on the first lap whern Team Bundaberg’s Fabian Coulthard rolled his car into obliteration.

And the theme reared its head late in the race too, the safety car adding drama to the 1000km race with only six laps to go.

Lowndes was quickest to react and charged away with Whincup in hot pursuit.

Until that point it was a case of conserving gas as everyone tries to get the most from each drop.

Third was the pairing of Garth Tander and Cameron McConville. – a remarkable achievement considering they lost their door in the pits earlier in the day.

In all the years I have been watching Bathurst including several years while living in Australia - New Zealand Television whether TVNZ or TV3 do not seem to care about their viewers. VERY VERY VERY disappointed with the coverage at the end of the day. Who wants to watch The Simpsons or the hosts waffle on and to cut out the presentation is simply not on. TV3 GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!

I support everyone who has made comments against TV3. How could you cut off the end of Bathurst! Why was it done? We need an apology live on TV!! Is the CEO going to do that? No wonder other people watch other channels. Get it together TV3.

Very dissapointed. The AD's, the news, the simpsons! One day out of 365! Even if TV3 had shown the podium and then the news they would have still finished it all by the scheduled, published end time of 7:30. Alot of frustration and abuse would have been avoided! Honestly who watches the ads? Personally I time shift them so I can fast forward through them so it is wasted money if you ask me. DOn't want to get abusive as I enjoy other shows that TV3 have on - I just hope they take heed of all the negative comments they have received over a number of comments from frustrated V8 fans.

Anyone wanting to complain about the discusting, un professional behaviour of TV3 in their broadcast of the Bathurst 1000 should waste their time with posting their frustrations here as TV3 don't really give a crap! Today isn't the first time they have blatently given the V8's a bad rap. I suggest you send an email to reception@v8supercars.com.au, and let them know of your frustraions ... go to the source!

TV3 need to apologize to motorsports fans - on the 6PM news. To cut off the end of a 9 hour show for a simpsons show. the producer or director has really let down motorsports fans. Also the news - play it at the end - it is that obvious!!

TV3 you killed the race with ads and then the news it's the biggest race of the year and then you cut off the podium presentation. Disappointing.

Congratulations TV3 on ruining the end of the event. You breifly flicked back to the presentation when GT was speaking and all we heard was Shaun Summerfield waffling on with the other two tossers that host the show with him!!!! How long is it going to be before you stuff it up completley and loose the rights to the v8's like you did the WRC. GET YOUR BLOODY ACT TOGETHER PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
