There were dramas aplenty at the 2010 Bathurst 1000 but Team Vodafone put hopping kangaroos and doors falling off aside to take the top two places on the podium.
Craig Lowndes, teamed up with Mark Skaife, drove since lap 82 showing a super-human effort, but had to work hard to hold off Jamie Whincup and Steve Owen at the final stages.
The race had drama right from the get-go, with the safety car called into action on the first lap whern Team Bundaberg’s Fabian Coulthard rolled his car into obliteration.
And the theme reared its head late in the race too, the safety car adding drama to the 1000km race with only six laps to go.
Lowndes was quickest to react and charged away with Whincup in hot pursuit.
Until that point it was a case of conserving gas as everyone tries to get the most from each drop.
Third was the pairing of Garth Tander and Cameron McConville. – a remarkable achievement considering they lost their door in the pits earlier in the day.
