Lucy Lawless to be sentenced today

Nearly a year after their demonstration took place aboard an oil exploration ship at Port Taranaki, actor Lucy Lawless and seven fellow Greenpeace protesters will learn their sentence.
The group spent 77 hours up a 53m-high tower they scaled aboard the Noble Discoverer at the port in February last year. The action protested against Shell's exploration for oil in the Arctic.
Lawless, along with Raoni Hammer, Mike Buchanan, Shayne Comino, Viv Hadlow, Shai Naides, Zach Penman and Ilai Amir, will be sentenced in New Plymouth District Court today.
In June last year the eight each admitted a charge of being unlawfully on a ship. But sentencing has been delayed because more information was needed after police requested $700,000 in reparation from the activists.
The protesters were initially charged with burglary, but pleaded guilty when the lesser charge was laid.
No conviction was entered when they pleaded guilty, giving the sentencing judge the option of discharging the eight without conviction when they appear in court.
Lawless, best-known for her roles in the television series Xena: Warrior Princess and Spartacus, says the protest prompted thousands of people to support the campaign to stop the drilling.

If Lucy Lawless and her co-protestors drive petrol or diesel cars, ride on buses, trains or aeroplanes then they are hypocrits. Or is it all right for oil companies to produce fuel as long as it is not in their backyard?

I love Lucy Lawless. From Xena and Spartacus. Xena was my favorite time. I collect all the series. Even Hercules and I still watch it. I wish she wasn't sentence. It be great if she plays another role. I love you Lucy.
