It could only be described as car carnage - and with eight cars involved, it's a tricky one to put together.

It appears a large truck collided with a van, then collided with a tow-truck which had a Porsche on it.

In the meantime it took out a few Audis in the Audi dealership and basically cut a path of destruction through a section of Great South Rd.

Two people from the van, which was allegedly doing a U-turn, were taken to hospital – as was the driver of the truck.

Eleven police cars, four fire engines and several ambulances were called to the scene.

Andrew Schermanic witnessed the crash while having a performance review in an office overlooking the street.

“It was like a slow motion train wreck,” says Mr Schermanic.

Police say the number of injuries was low because most of the cars were parked and empty.

Mr Schermanic's performance review has been delayed for another day.

The van was not doing a U turn it was turning into the car dealership's driveway so it could turn around. As the van slowed down to turn, the "truck" was going too quick and couldn't stop in time so it swerved. At that very moment the van, which had its right indicator on, started to turn right. The truck went right into them.
