Ko in top 20 after first round

World No.1 women's golf amateur Lydia Ko of New Zealand has made a solid start to her first appearance in a Japanese LPGA tour event.

Ko, 16, shot an even-par 72 in the first round of the World Ladies Championship at Ibaraki, leaving her sharing 17th place in a field of 120.

The Auckland schoolgirl mixed five birdies with three bogeys and a double-bogey to be four shots behind co-leaders So Yeon Ryu of Korea and Saiki Fujita of Japan.
