Hundreds of runners re-traced the steps of some of our middle-distance Olympic greats this morning, in the Arthur Lydiard Memorial Marathon.
Set up after the passing of legendary track coach Arthur Lydiard eight years ago, the gruelling run through the Waitakere Ranges attracts a varied crowd.
Recreating the route Lydiard used to train Olympic champions Peter Snell and Murray Halberg, the race's creator hopes to raise awareness of his achievements.
