Cee Lo Green has added his voice to the chorus of disapproval over M.I.A.'s rude finger salute during Madonna's Super Bowl half-time show last week.

The ‘Paper Planes’ hitmaker stunned TV viewers when she flipped the bird and Green, who was also part of the spectacular, insists he's sure the hip-hop star regrets her actions.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday, the ‘Forget You’ singer said, "It most certainly wasn't planned. I just think she got a little in the heat of the moment (sic) and did something that she probably regrets."

But, like Madonna, it took a while for him to learn about the shocking moment.

He added, "I didn't know anything about it until about a day afterwards."

In a radio interview with Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest earlier on Friday, Madonna admitted she "wasn't happy" about the finger gesture, adding, "I understand it's kind of punk rock and everything, but, to me, there was such a feeling of love and energy and positivity and it just seemed negative... It's such a teenager... irrelevant thing to do in one respect... It was just out of place."

She also revealed that M.I.A. has apologised for her bad behaviour.

False headline yet again - there is nothing in the story to suggest she regrets anything.
