Authorities are investigating a Waikato rest home after maggots were found in the wound of an elderly patient.

Eighty-four-year-old Nancy Robinson was a resident at Kenwyn Rest Home in Te Aroha.

She became ill and was transferred to hospital where staff found fly larvae in the ulcer on her heel.

Mrs Robinson died in March from unrelated injuries but the Health and Disability Commission has launched an inquiry into Kenwyn Rest Home.

Mrs Robinson's daughter-in-law, Jennifer Comer, says her family is appalled.

Jennifer Comer would like an apology from Kenwyn Rest Home.

my father was in a BUPA run nursing home here in TOOWOOMBA australia. his wound was infected badly with maggots in febuary this year. they were not dressing or cleaning his open wound for days at a time. They were investigated and found to be in breech of the "aged care act 1997" in many areas. Not once did they offer him an apology, he was in great pain and went into shock befor they looked at his wound propley and found the fully grown maggots. for 3 days the general hospital was still getting maggots out of his wound and doctors had to remove his leg below the knee. He passed away last week from a heart attack still waiting to her the word sorry. BUPA may think thats the end of it but they are very wrong.

Oh Cmon Mumma bear, are you serious? Have a look at the crap that happened under Labour's watch, was twice as bad as it is now. This has nothing to do with politics, it is all about greedy businessmen not giving a damn as long as the money comes in.
