Authorities are investigating a Waikato rest home after maggots were found in the wound of an elderly patient.
Eighty-four-year-old Nancy Robinson was a resident at Kenwyn Rest Home in Te Aroha.
She became ill and was transferred to hospital where staff found fly larvae in the ulcer on her heel.
Mrs Robinson died in March from unrelated injuries but the Health and Disability Commission has launched an inquiry into Kenwyn Rest Home.
Mrs Robinson's daughter-in-law, Jennifer Comer, says her family is appalled.
Jennifer Comer would like an apology from Kenwyn Rest Home.
