Police have charged a 38-year-old man with the murder of Amanda Dawn Taufale.

Ms Taufale’s body was discovered around 8am this morning in Tawa, Wellington. It appeared the 33-year-old mother of two died a violent death.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says police are still working to understand what exactly happened to Ms Taufale, but are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.

"I know this will come as a relief to Amanda's family,” says Mr Oxnam.

Police still want to hear from anyone who has seen a late model blue Toyota hatchback with the registration ‘GMB108’, and will be canvassing train commuters at Takapu Railway Station tomorrow morning for any sightings of the car.
