A man holds a burned Bible at St Peter's Square (Reuters)

The pope has created three new saints at a special mass in the Vatican City, despite proceedings being interrupted by a protestor.

The man climbed up walls surrounding St Peter's Square, then set fire to a bible he was holding.

Vatican security, a bishop and the pope's own bodyguard eventually talked the man down after he shouted, "Pope, where is Christ?"
