Police have arrested and charged a Kapiti man with aggravated robbery and kidnapping, 11 days after a Paraparaumu supermarket worker was robbed at knifepoint.

The 38-year-old was arrested in Porirua on Monday and was to appear in Porirua District Court on Tuesday morning, police said.

On September 16 a female Countdown worker was allegedly confronted by a man armed with a knife in the office area at the supermarket and a sum of money was taken from the safe.

The victim was unharmed but so shaken she remained in the office for about two hours before another staff member found her and called police.
