A man is dead after receiving an electric shock from a power line, which came down in north Canterbury, police say.
The 39-year-old died after the line came down from the power pole in Hurunui District, about 10.20am Saturday, said Inspector Paul Fremaux, shift commander of southern police communications.
The man's name had not been released because police were contacting his next of kin, he said.
