A man who received a huge electric shock from an 11,000V powerline in Mt Eden earlier this month has died.

Jason Webb was one of two men injured when a flagpole on the back of their truck struck the high voltage line 10 days ago.

Mr Webb was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition after the accident, but died at the weekend. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

The other injured man, Brett Mills, is in a stable condition.

More than 200 homes and businesses lost power during the incident.
