Police are investigating a "particularly vicious" assault at the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival at the weekend in which they say the offender was dressed as a Tetris box.
The victim suffered a broken jaw, broken eye socket and cuts to his face, requiring plates to be inserted.
This assault occurred at the Wildfoods venue, near the toilets within the fence line, just past the information tent on Saturday about 6pm.
The offender was believed to be a male caucasian, aged about 25, and dressed as a Tetris Box.
He was with a group of young men leaving the festival at the time, Hokitika police said in a statement.
Tetris is a popular tile matching puzzle video game in which falling box shapes must be manipulated to create horizontal lines of blocks, which then disappear.
