Man jailed 12 years for Rotorua murder
The Rotorua man who admitted murdering a Polish man in a city park has been jailed for at least 12 years.

Rawiri James Samuel, 21, was sentenced to life with the 12-year minimum non-parole period when he appeared in the High Court at Rotorua on Thursday.

The mutilated body of Roman Skorek, 64, was found in Rotorua's Kuirau Park in January this year. He had died from a stab wound to the chest, his throat had been cut and his skull fractured.

Three others, Simon Herewini, 21, William Karauna Edwards, 15, and Leslie McKay Glen, 14, deny murder and will go to trial in February.
