Police want to speak to Steven Keith Pengelly

A man is in a stable condition in Nelson Hospital after his throat was slashed in Nelson yesterday afternoon.

The man staggered bleeding into a Nelson dairy seeking help, the Nelson Mail reported.

Police want to speak to Steven Keith Pengelly, 39, in connection with the attack and are asking the public to report any sightings of him to them.

He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Pengelly, who is from Wellington but has been in Nelson since early this week, is described as Caucasian and 178cm tall.
