Maori Party MPs are said to be under pressure from their ruling party council to reverse their support for the emissions trading scheme legislation.

News websites are reporting that the Maori Party's national council will hold a telephone conference today, as some of the 26 senior representatives that make up the party's ruling body are unhappy with the deal with National.

The ETS legislation is being debated in Parliament and if the unhappiness of the party members translated into a reversal of support the bill would not pass.

It would be a major political embarrassment for the Maori Party leaders Pita Sharples and Tariana Turia if they had to renege on their deal which they championed as a great deal for their constituents.

News sites are quoting an anonymous senior Maori Party officials saying some members of the council were unhappy with the lack of consultation over the deal.

There was also concern about the costs of the scheme and the Maori Party reportedly have said that the ETS would increase debt and costs for low income people due to subsidies for polluters.

There's no way this lot will flip flop, as they along with their elite Maori mates are going to be paid to much to even think about it. Hopefully this will be the end of the Racist Party.

Does anyone need further proof that AGW is all about politics, nothing to do with Intelligence, education, real information, just the same old greed and graft!

Hmmmm, so what the Maori Party got from National as part of them supporting the ETS, which many, non-maori, are decrying as 'racist/sepratist' etc as it gives the millions of dollars.....is NOT enough!!, the Maori Party leaders want their MP's to stop supporting it, as it will not benefit Maori enough....seems the Maori Party are getting more and more seperatist/racist by the day. This will NOT do them any favours, I can see the Maori party dissolving before my eyes.

Are they also unhappy with the forestry deal? No mention of that! But they do support Hone calling the rest of New Zealand white motherf..they do support the never ending Treaty settlements, the sentiment of Hone's email.

Shame on Pita and Tariana for accepting such a deal. This is as good as selling your mother out.
