The Maritime Union of New Zealand (MUNZ) has restated its settlement offer to the Ports of Auckland to build a framework and deal with all outstanding issues.

The union's offer includes changes to overtime provisions to significantly reduce costs of shifts longer than eight hours, increasing the number of workers available for overnight shifts, speeding up changeover times for drivers and increased numbers for part-time workers.

It also confirmed the union is seeking a 2.5 percent pay rise over a 12-month period.

MUNZ President Garry Parsloe said all unresolved matters would need to be agreed on with the port's management before an agreement is reached.

The union has also offered to work on improving management-union relations.

Port management and union bosses have been at loggerheads over a bid to increase the use of casual labour at the transport leading to several strikes and a lock-out.

The latest industrial action is set to start on February 24 and last a week.

The dispute has cost the port contracts with shipping line Maersk and dairy exporter Fonterra Cooperative Group, who have shifted to Port of Tauranga and Port of Napier.
