Double Olympic equestrian gold medallist Mark Todd of New Zealand is in line to attend his seventh Olympics in 2012 after being named in an 11-strong New Zealand eventing squad to prepare for the London games.
Todd, 52, won gold medals in the individual and team three-day events at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, bronze in the team event at Seoul in 1988 and bronze in the individual in Sydney in 2000.
He has twice won world championship gold medals in team events, has won the prestigious Badminton horse trials on three occasions - for the first time in 1980 - and the Burghley horse trials five times.
Todd said Wednesday he has a team of horses capable of providing a competitive mount in London.
"When dealing with horses you never quite know. But at the moment I've got a team of six horses in the UK and the aim is to have a team of horses set and ready to go for the Olympics in 2012," he told Radio Sport.
