Some good news and bad news for Marmite fans.
Sanitarium is confident production of the yeast spread can begin again by the end of October.
But general manager Pierre van Heerden says that doesn't mean it'll be back on the shelves straight away.
"With the different yeasts coming in from different sources, we first have to produce bulk stock. Once we've got all of that processed we can then blend them, and only once we've done that can we process and pack."
Mr van Heerden says it could be next year before the spread is available in shops.
Sanitarium was forced to close its Christchurch production plant in November 2011, and the Kiwi favourite began disappearing off shelves in March.
The shortage was quickly dubbed 'Marmageddon'.
