Brian Tamaki's car number plate really does read 'born to rule'

There signs that the money-making habits of Destiny Church have become too much for some followers.

Yesterday, at a service in Brisbane, a pastor and 90 followers got up and walked out of a service that was being run by Bishop Brian Tamaki's wife, Hanna Tamaki.

Also there was Mr Tamaki's second in charge, Richard Lewis.

At the service, churchgoers were asked to "give it heaps" - heaps of offerings that is, on top of those already given in the form of tithes and school gifts.

People were asked to go without non-essentials and luxuries for seven months so the church could raise $3 million.

I went there once. It was very weird. I really do believe it is a cult/monkey making scam. Do you people not realise where your money is going? To Brian himself & towards making new churches which will make more money that will go straight into HIS pocket.. Not into the community. Not to people living in poverty.
Grow a brain guys.

I agree with Micheal04 March. The prophets in the old days passed never put themselves on pedestals, above those that needed they shared their wealth The Truth and their gifts where applied to feed and bring back to exsistence the health of the sick. Many have mistaken what wealth really is , it is who we are; not what we hold in our bank accounts. I will not Judge TamakiBishops its not my place, but I will stand up To the evil Satanic Whore within that church and its' not a blood Tamaki. So don't ignore who accuses behind closed doors what it is actually doing itself to cover its own greed, want and postion. Satan is deception and deciet of evilest kind. Remember Satan rose up but not by its own power(but that of men)politically speaking how truer a sentence, so men have been captivated by authority, power, and greed. So then how has satan got in to have so much influence. Check this out the One I no for a fact in that church, The satanic whore is an (it). Had a sex change in america was over there in 1997 in moves elusivley through the congregations speaking words of deciet against who it nos' will turn onit when it's found out. It was fostered all over the place. I no two families that suffer its evil constantly and they are those who begrudingly fostered it and its now advocates who are also manuvering amidst the church. Satan has an insashable greed for wealth. They say behind every Great man sits a woman.

@Mrs O'Conner: "His words are as consistent as the Bible that he speaks from", are they? that's ok, but are they consistent WITH the bible? That's the important detail...

So, can someone please explain to me (and many others) why it is that Jesus and all His disciples lived in poverty? As they travelled to different towns (definitely not in on their Harley's) they relied on the kindness of strangers for places to stay (not their large bank accounts). They also spent time in jail. In the end, were they all?? killed for their faith? How does this stack up with the Tamaki's and all their wealth? I do know of other pastors of large churches that do life comfortable lives, but that's because they have been successful in business in their lives, not because they took "heaps and heaps" from their church members. In fact, some aren't even paid by the churches they preach at because they have already been blessed with enough money elsewhere. And no, those businesses were not leasing land and buildings back to the church for large sums of money either. We obviously read the Bible differently to Brian - maybe he's got it upside down and that's why everything is back to front. As for the future generations, how is Destiny investing in the future generations of all it's members? Are you sure it's not just the future Tamaki generations you are all supporting? Just some real answers would be nice to hear, rather than members telling everyone to stop judging Destiny. Why not take the opportunity to better educate us with some real facts on the many positive you keep claiming there is???
