This believer is well-packed for the next life. So is the guy on the left, if heaven is short of food.

This believer is well-packed for the next life. So is the guy on the left, if heaven is short of food.

By Dan Satherley

You may have heard that today, according to some people, is Judgement Day.

These folk believe that on Sunday, the only people left on Earth will be the sinners, non-believers and people who believed, but for their own reasons decided to stay on Earth and presumably, rot in hell with the rest of us.

They've spread the word on billboards, radio, TV and the internet.

Spot on, Chris. But I think very few of these 'nutbars' will start to admit some rationalty into their thinking after this resounding failure. They will be unlikely to be able to let go of their conditioning which will have been continuous since their parents exposed them to it as infants. It is very difficult to reason someone out of a position arrived at without reason being involved in the first place. They may grow up to be otherwise logical, but if they start to question their faith profound feelings of disquiet, even fear, may develop. Easier not to go there, but find another magical explanation to quiet the doubts within. I am sure Mr Camping will come up with something after some desperate thought. It takes a very courageous individual to step away from the religious structure and possibly their family. Mostly they have been discouraged from critical thinking by those who have much to lose if the flock starts to think too much. Most of us have the child within who is still a bit pissed off that Santa turned out to to be a con. Not surprising that some still cling to the one trhat is left...

There is some good news in all of this nonsense - 1/ it shows what crackpots Christians are 2/ it shows that religions are based on ignorance, fear and mythology 3/ come Monday morning there will be 10,000's of these nut bars hopefully starting to think a little more rationale for themselves and becoming a bit more skeptical instead of being stupid sheep believing in a delusion headed by a geriatric psychotic.
There is no evidence whatsoever for the existence of god or gods. as is there non for ghosts and fairies.
For gods to exist basic laws of physics and the universe would be wrong and they are not.
The onis of proof is on the claimant and no evidence has been provided - ever.
'Matt' is has nothing to do with 'narrow minded ness' but all to do with evidence - please your show your evidence - any evidence for a god or gods and if must be observable, repeatable and falsifiable. Blind faith is not 'evidence'.
If we could replace religion with ratational and critical thinking based on humanism the world would be a bit more enlightened instead of living still in the dark ages as this nonsense clearly shows.

Actually Jill, believers are NOT automatically narrow minded, anyone who thinks they know all is being narrow minded, because NO-ONE knows the truth. I have my beliefs, so do you, so does everyone. But not one of us knows another to say which beliefs are right, therefore we ALL need to be open minded. By the way, there are plenty of narrow minded non believers too.

So all the narrow minded believers will be all gone from earth after tomorrow? That's something worth celebrating.

Hahaha, I love the theological refutations of this guy - "hey mate, my fairy tale says your fairy tale is wrong" It really adds significantly to the matter to have such authoritative analysis being posted

It's very interesting that every Billboard, T-shirt, sign, etc... has a plug for Camping's radio station's web site. Do you think God is getting a kickback?

We should've made that preacher guy eat something or do something extreme or weird if his prophesy failed to come true. Which it has.
