Former Spice Girls star Melanie Chisholm has landed her first stage role - she is to star in a West End production of Blood Brothers.
The singer has little acting experience, with her only role to date coming in 1998's Spice World, in which she played herself.
She will now take on the demanding lead role of Mrs Johnstone in the famous Willy Russell musical, a part previously played by stars including Barbara Dickson, Kiki Dee and Carole King.
Sporty Spice will make her first appearance in the production on 26 October. After she finishes her Blood Brothers run she will go back to music and begin work on her fifth solo album.
