Wellingtonians have had the chance to hear Mel Parsons' laid-back country-influenced performances at Bats Theatre over the last couple of nights, and will again tomorrow night.
While she's country, she's also a little bit folk, which is perhaps no surprise as she hails from the South Island's West Coast.
Parsons' grand dreams took her from her native Westport to Auckland straight out of high school. Ten years later came her debut album Over My Shoulder, and a nomination for folk album of the year at last year's Tui Music Awards.
Now the songstress is back in what she says is her favourite city.
