The Mt Wellington-Panmure RSA in Auckland is hoping today's memorial service for three people killed ten years ago will allow the club to move forward.

William Bell gunned down four people at the club in one of the country's most horrific crimes.

Club president Bill Absolum, member Wayne Johnson and cleaner Mary Hobson were killed. Susan Couch was the sole survivor.

The club's current president, Leon Matthews, knew the victims well and says it has been a tough ten years for the club.

“It’s time we put it to rest and hopefully today we can do that. The club can progress, because it has been holding the club back, the whole stigma attached to it.”

Mr Matthews says the service starts at 11am.
