For years now, fans have discussed and debated just who is the greatest player in world football – Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?
The arguments look set to continue following this morning's Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The 95,000 fans at Barcelona’s Nou camp will tell you that with three World Player of the Year titles to his name, Messi is without question the best player in the world.
But arch-rivals Real Madrid also have a serious contender for the crown.
Ronaldo scored in his sixth straight Clasico to give Real the lead - time for Messi to prove his credentials.
He was on the end of a scrappy equaliser after half an hour, but there was nothing Messi about his sumptuous second.
With 2-1, Barcelona was on track to continue their perfect start to the season, but their lead lasted just five minutes. Ronaldo's second rescued a point for the visitors – honours even in the battle to be the best.
Ronaldo's former club Manchester United are second best in the Premier League following a one-sided win over Newcastle.
The Red Devils struck twice from corners, before Tom Cleverley cleverly conjured up United's third.
Whether it was a shot or a cross is up for debate, but three points lifts United behind Chelsea at the top of the table.
From the sublime to the ridiculous, chances were so rare in Liverpool’s match with Stoke, Luis Suarez took desperate measures.
No penalty and no goals resulted in a dull stalemate at Anfield.
