Metal legends Metallica performed for the first time in their history in the South Island city of Christchurch last night.
The CBS Canterbury Arena concert along with a second tonight only happened after a fan petition forced Metallica to add the dates to their already two-year long World Magnetic tour.
3 News pop culture reporter and Metallica fan David Farrier travelled to Christchurch for the show and caught up with frontman James Hetfield and bass player Robert Trujillo while he was there.
