Metservice warns of gales overnight for Otago coasts
Sun, 07 Aug 2011 8:34p.m.
Metservice says a strong southwesterly flow is expected to affect the Catlins and Otago coasts as far north as the Otago Peninsula overnight.
These southwesterly winds may reach severe gale at times.
At this stage it appears that gusts above 110 km/h will not affect a wide enough area to justify a warning but a watch will be maintained.
People in this area should keep up to date with the latest forecasts and check if this watch is upgraded to a warning.
