Three-time paralympian Michael Johnson has been chosen to carry the flag for New Zealand at Thursday morning's opening ceremony.
He won gold in Athens for shooting and bronze in Beijing, but says nothing compares to this moment.
This is probably one of my proudest moments. Representing my country in a third Paralympics is fantastic,” he says.
He says the challenge of London is made easier by unprecedented hype surrounding the Paralympics.
“It's really great that we are getting recognition now. People coming up to me on the street to have my photo taken with them congratulating and wishing me good luck.”
But Johnson and the other kiwi athletes have far more than just good luck – they have passed very strict selection process based on if they are likely to win a medal.
