It's E3 time in Los Angeles; a week for gaming geeks to check out the latest and greatest.
Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all have a big year of competition ahead and today Microsoft was the first to hold their big press conference.
E3 is a place where videogame makers are treated like celebrities and get to show off.
“I’d like to invite my friend up to the stage,” Gears of War developer Cliff Blezenski told the audience. “Rapper, actor and Gears cast member, the legendary Ice T.”
There were plenty of blockbuster sequels on show at the Microsoft media conference, the biggest being the announcement of Halo 4.
There were also new titles announced for Kinect, the Xbox 360’s motion-based control system.
Over 55 million Xbox 360s have shipped worldwide since launch in 2005.
"The interesting thing is we're six years into our life cycle and usually you'll see the peaks going down,” says Steven Blackburn of Microsoft New Zealand.
“But with Kinect launching its gone through the roof again. We just got in Guinness World Records for fastest selling electronic device."
Today’s crowd seemed very impressed with a new Kinect feature that allows your body to be instantly converted into a digital avatar, automatically.
Over the next few days in Los Angeles we'll see what the competition, Sony and Nintendo, have to offer.
