Cameras captured the moment Miss New Zealand was elbowed aside by Miss Malawi, during the Miss World beauty pageant at the weekend.

Miss World New Zealand organisers will lay a formal complaint to the international body governing the competition, after Susan Mtegha pushed 18-year-old Collette Lochore out of the way on stage.

Both contestants continued smiling as the jostling took place and director of Miss World NZ Desmond Foulger told the New Zealand Herald that the Miss New Zealand was in the right.

“Collette was on her correct spot on stage, but Miss Malawi didn't realise that. Instead of asking her to move over, she just shoved her, elbowed her, and everybody in the audience was aghast,” Mr Foulger said.

"Our girl was fine, she was correct, but Miss Malawi was bad-mannered. I'm going to complain to the Miss World organisation when I get back.

"She was pushed hard, so she nearly fell over. It was a very rude and very unprofessional thing to do."

The event was won by Miss China.

The scene may look ugly, but all this name calling especially bad-mouthing and calling Miss Malawi ugly and all sorts of names just shows how the so called better civilised NZ has just shown that those who have a racist and immature mind are still in the dark ages. Whether Miss Malawi lives in a village or not, she competed on the same stage as Miss New Zealand. That means, as ugly as you may see her, she is still a wonderfully created human being in our eyes and of God who sees not the skin but the whole person. Who amongst you has no sin? Why didnt Miss New Zealand win the contest? Its a competition, and this year, China won! Wake up and show us how better a society you are then..coz from the comments being posted here u could be worse than you might think us Malawians are. I love my country and will not stand for anybody regardless of where from who racially attacks my people.

"You may dress up in a thousand dollar dress but you really are noted by your bad behaviour and village ways Miss Malawi. As always Miss NZ showed decorum and class - Way to go Kiwis" That's really patronising.

Here is an idea. How about putting the girls in a boxing match and put bets on who will win. "...oh Miss NZ gave Miss Malawi a left hook, but she has recovered and is giving Miss NZ a hit in the mouth..this is going to be a very exciting competition".
